Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2014! Another year has gone by and more wonderful moments are yet to come.

Really, I’m not usually very big on setting New Year’s resolution because like everyone else, I seem to forget about them halfway through the month of January. I never grew up setting New Year’s resolutions and maybe that’s why I’m so bad at this, but this year, I’m taking a new approach. Instead of setting the vague “I want to lose weight” or “I promise to read more”, I’m setting my goals a little differently. Gone are the broad, never really know how you’re going to reach it goals! Instead, I’m looking for weekly goals. A goal for each day. A reminder of something little to do.

I like to make lists, lots and lots of lists. Ask anyone I know, I perpetually carry around a legal pad with lists. For my New Year’s resolutions, I made lists, but just enough for January. A goal for each day, something small, something attainable, something I can remind myself of each day and feel accomplished each day as I complete it. I chose to do it this way so that instead of being melancholy in July when I remember that I forgot about my goals, I can look back and see the little things that were done, leading up to the big things that I want to do.

I’m not going to list all the little things that I plan on doing for you to read because that would make for a rather long list. Instead, I’ll list the one thing that I have for today, January 1st, 2014:

Take a photo with my family. Drink a glass of champagne. Celebrate the start of something new.

What’s your goal for today?
